This applewood hot-smoked Steelhead trout is kippered style, smoked in small batches at a family-owned smokehouse, Samaki, located in the Hudson Valley. "Hot" refers to the high temperature at which it is smoked (145 degrees), not the flavor profile! Super flakey and decadent texture, delicious in a variety of preparations. **The date printed on the package is the use by date if this item was kept unfrozen. Description: The superior freshness of New York Steelhead gives it a super clean, mild flavor. Never treated with antibiotics, vaccines or growth hormones.100% free of mercury and micro-plastics. We love to enjoy hot-smoked steelhead in salads, dips, scrambled eggs, or simply as is on a cheese platter. It resembles kippered or baked salmon but much less fishy and less salty. It pairs very well with lemon zest, horseradish, cucumbers and arugula. Each pack weights 4 oz.
This applewood smoked is made from our premium grade Steelhead trout fresh fillets grown and harvested in their state of the art recirculating aquaculture system in Hudson, NY. Each piece is naturally smoked with applewood under strict FDA sanitary and food safety specifications. Their Steelhead trout are always raised without hormones or antibiotics, and are free of mercury, artificial dyes and microplastics.
Ingredients: Steelhead trout, salt, sugar, natural applewood smoke.
Storage: Keep fish frozen until ready to use. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and prepare within 1-2 days.
