This well-loved vegetable is amazingly versatile: it can be steamed, simmered, roasted, battered, grilled, even sauteed.

Asparagus is a perennial plant that produces edible shoots. These shoots are typically prepared by being boiled or steamed. The French serve asparagus hot and topped with butter, while Italians often serve asparagus cold with a vinaigrette.

One of our favorite ways to prepare apsaragus is this Asparagus Salad! The balsamic vinegar dressing is the perfect pairing for this earthy veggie.

Storage: Wrap bottom of asparagus in a damp paper towel and place in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. Will last up to 7 days.

Fifer Orchards

Fourth generation Fifer’s grow a very diverse mix of high quality fresh fruits and vegetables. The moderate climate of Dewey Beach, Delaware and hearty well draining, sandy soil of that agriculturally rich region provides ideal conditions for growing a diverse mix of fruits and vegetables including: peaches, pears, grapes, apples, tomatoes, potatoes, sweet corn, lima beans, asparagus, strawberries and more. In 1919, Charles Fifer started farming on 300 acres of land, with a belief in crop diversification, farmland stewardship and growing high quality produce.
