Onions: Fresh Vidalia

$4.99

bunch

Vidalia Sweet Onions are famous for being mild and sweet enough to eat like fruit! These gorgeous onions are coming to us from Lil Bo's in Georgia (the only place that can grow Vidalias by name) who are the only farm harvest Vidalias with the greens as spring onions. It's almost a two for one because you get the sweet onion and the delicious greens to use as well!

Description: The Vidalia Onion is certainly unique in all the world. The sugar content of this onion is comparable to that of an apple. It’s a mild, succulent onion that is delicious raw on hamburgers, sliced alongside your steak, in a garden salad, or just eaten raw. It doesn’t have the “burn” of your average onion. The bulb of the onion can be used as any sweet onions can be but don't skimp out on using the greens as well! The greens are a sweeter version of a scallion!

Storage: Remove greens from the onions and store separately. Bag each and place in the crisper bin in the refrigerator. Should stay fresh for at least a week.

FarmArt

FarmArt is one of the Philadelphia region’s top produce distributors. Their mission is to provide their customers with the sweetest fruit and freshest vegetables in the most dependable, friendly manner. They're a family-owned business, started by Steve Klinghoffer. The Klinghoffer family has supplied produce to the Philadelphia market since 1972. Their family has over 100 years of collective experience in the produce business, bringing knowledge from retail, farmers' markets, food-service and even organic farming sectors to the FarmArt brand. After years of farming organic tomatoes and selling fresh produce through retail channels, founder Steve Klinghoffer and family tapped into the wholesale market, building on business from chefs who purchased in bulk from the now-closed FarmArt retail store in Strafford, PA to become Philadelphia's wholesale produce specialists. From their current headquarters just outside the city in Folcroft, FarmArt supplies the region's top restaurants, cafes, caterers, and retailers with high-quality produce from around the world and the mid-Atlantic region. They saw a need for a local-centric outlet and started the brand Barefoot Boy under their parent company. Barefoot Boy is locally focused providing the tastiest produce this region has to offer during the height of the changing seasons. You can read more about Barefoot Boy under their producer profile.
