Cashew Butter Masala Simmer Sauce

$12.00

12 oz

Butter Masala, a rich and mildly-spiced sauce, brings owner Chitra back to eating at dhabas in North India while on family road trips. She combines pure cashew butter and luscious coconut cream with slow-cooked tomatoes, garlic, ginger and sweet paprika to create a lighter, vegan version of the recipe that's as satisfying as the original. Click on this item to see the full description.

Description:  Butter Masala, a rich and mildly-spiced sauce. Also note, these simmer sauces are all mild so you can make them for your household and each individual can modify the heat with one of Brooklyn Delhi's achaars. Feed your toddler the sauce with veggies and a protein, grain and yogurt and then layer on achaars for kick!

Ingredients: water, organic coconut cream, tomato paste, onions, non-GMO expeller pressed canola oil, garlic, ginger, lemon juice, non-GMO cashew butter, spices (including paprika and turmeric), tamarind, brown sugar, salt, fenugreek leaves.

Directions: Add 1 jar of our Cashew Butter Masala sauce to 1 lb sautéed chicken, tofu, paneer or veggies. Add 1/2 cup coconut milk or cream for a richer sauce. Simmer until heated through. Serve with a dollop of plain yogurt and Brooklyn Delhi achaar (optional) over rice or with naan.

Storage: Refrigerate once opened.

Brooklyn Delhi

Brooklyn Delhi makes delicious condiments and sauces inspired by Indian culinary traditions. Their first line of products that they launched in 2014 focuses on an Indian pantry staple called achaar, sometimes referred to as Indian pickle. Brooklyn Delhi recipes were developed by chef and cookbook author Chitra Agrawal. Since 2009 in Brooklyn, Chitra has specialized in serving, teaching and writing about Indian home cooking. She has been featured in The New York Times, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, Saveur, among others. Chitra travels to India each year to visit family and gain inspiration for her recipes. In Summer of 2018, they launched their second line of condiments a Curry Ketchup and Curry Mustard, in August of 2019, they launched their line of Simmer Sauces and in 2020 they launched our Guntur Sannam Hot Sauce and Mango Chutney. Handcrafted in small batches in New York & we like it best...on everything!
