Purple basil leaves have a beautiful, coppery glow and clove-like, slightly spicy flavor. This basil is used in Italian, Mediterranean, and Thai cooking and is good with veal, lamb, fish, poultry, white beans, pasta, rice, tomatoes, cheese, and eggs. Purple basil is also excellent used in vinegar and as a garnish.Pair it our fresh garlic and Porcini Mushroom Pasta (Vera Pasta) to create an amazing pesto pasta dish. Located in Honey Brook, PA the Harvest Collective is a group of farmers that all grow and contribute to our food system we're working hard to develop. Initially, we first met Reuben Riehl in the fall of 2012 and began talking about this crazy idea of him supplying the CSA. Now, two and a half years later, Reuben and eight of his neighbors are growing crops, making cheese, and raising chickens, beef, pork, duck, and lamb for the CSA. The group is only open to growers that care greatly for their land and take pride in their natural growing methods. While they are not certified organic, they do everything in their power to raise their crops and animals in the healthiest way possible.
We are a network of family farms dedicated to providing wholesale farm-fresh products as well as connection for your customers and the food they eat. We ARE your local farmers.
Wrap loosely in damp paper towels and refrigerate. Use within 2 to 3 days. For long term storage: chop up leaves, put in an ice tray, cover with water and freeze.
